Partnering with the Namibian Evangelical Theological Seminary
In its drive to work with other higher education institutions in the country, ALUSA recently engaged with NETS, the Namibian Evangelical Theological Seminary, based in Windhoek, and reached agreement to collaborate as partners.
Such partnerships take a high priority firstly for the important work to do research and build new knowledge as higher education institutions, and offer students current and relevant curriculum and teaching, but secondly also to strengthen the legitimacy of ALUSA as a partner of choice in the higher education landscape. For these purposes ALUSA reaches out to respected colleagues and institutions that share similar institutional values and direction.
As an institution that have and continues to make considerable contributions to the development of leaders that serve communities, and for the development of morality and commitments to servant leadership across all sectors, NETS is an ideal partner to strengthen research on African leadership and for training of Namiban leaders (and for the region and continent).
An accredited Namibian institution, NETS has served Namibia since its establishment as a multi-denominational Christian training institute in 1993, and before that in its first form as the Windhoek Theological Seminary (WTS) since 1987. Coincidentally, Professor Nehonga Buys, who previously served as CEO of ALUSA, was the founding principal of the institution.
Rev. Dr. Rudi Buys, CEO of ALUSA, and Rev. Misseline Gordon, Academic Head of NETS, lead the discussions in this regard and presented the possible partnerships to their respective Boards.

The Boards of the two institutions approved the partnership in principle and instructed the management teams to finalise the details of the collaboration.
While the partnership will take form in programmes to be designed, the institutions will collaborate in research on shared academic priorities, as well as possible academic exchanges of staff and students, among others. They will also share resources as may be needed and agreed to from time to time for the benefit of both institutions.
The agreement between the institutions also include that ALUSA, as a purely online institution, for accreditation purposes* share the NETS campus as its address for student and stakeholder engagement.
In response to the development Dr Buys said, "we are extremely excited about the potential that the partnership with NETS holds, in the main to have NETS as a knowledge partner alongside who we can strengthen reflection and training on leadership, but also as friends and colleagues that share a commitment to see our people, country and continent grow."

*ALUSA is currently engaged with the regulatory authorities to complete its accreditation as higher education institution.
